Scientists and engineers from BP provide students an opportunity to see how hands-on, interactive science and engineering experiments can be fun and cool. And kids can have one-on-one conversations with BP scientists and engineers, learn about BP’s technology program and career development in BP.
Design39Campus: Going Places
At our booth builders of all ages will design and create something that might fly or roll. After designing, they will test the prototype on a wind machine and redesign as needed.
SouthWest Robotics in Science Education
We will have Lego Mindstorms Robots that families can learn how to program on our laptops. We will also have information regarding our Clubhouse , programming workshops, and events that we sponsor (for example, the San Diego County Fair's Robotics competitions.)

Ms. Smarty-Plants™ from The Water Conservation Garden takes families on a fun and interactive journey of the water cycle that flows through the Colorado River, all the way to your faucet. Make conservation connections along the way with a special mixture of music, magic, and fun. Ms. Smarty-Plants™ ignites the EARTH HERO in each of us! Together “We can change the world with our own two hands.”
(This 30 minute program meets California State Standards and was presented to over 55,000 children and adults in 2014)

Bridge Building and the Engineering Design Process
Our booth will contain a hands on engineering activity designed around the NGSS practices. Students and parents will design and build brides together. We are focusing on the engineering design process to have students, parents and community members to ask, explore, model, evaluate and explain.
Jacobs Graduate School Council (JGSC)
Demos planned for this year’s festivities include DNA Extrac, Snap Circuits, Diaper Polymers, Silly Putty and Oobleck. All demos at the booth will be hands-on and are designed to maximize interaction with attendees. Through these activities we hope to engage with the children while introducing key science and engineering fundamentals.
DNA Extrac allows attendees to extract DNA from strawberries.

May the magnetic force be with you! From preschool to grade school, children can stop by our booth to investigate magnetism and test attraction. Sort magnetic and non-magnetic materials and observe and compare magnetic force. Use your creativity skills to design and build 3D constructions and structures with magnetic building blocks.
