Our goal for being part of the festival event would be to raise awareness for Padres Pedal the Cause and get additional employees and their families to be part of Team Qualcomm for the 2024 event. Alongside this awareness effort, we would like to do a bicycle related activity to demonstrate angular momentum https://www.exploratorium.edu/snacks/bicycle-wheel-gyro to help keep the theme of STEAM related opportunities for the Qkids event.
San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance
An interactive booth where folks make a pledge for conservation while contributing to a community art piece. Educators from the Zoo and Safari Park will be available to discuss SDZWA global conservation work and how it connects to our everyday lives in San Diego.

OUTbio San Diego aims to align with OUTbio to enable and facilitate a community within the life sciences and affiliated industries that support professional development and networking. We are still solidifying the activities, but they will be connected to the LGBTQ+ community and the sciences. One idea is to have a quick and simple matching game of people from the LGBTQ+ community who have contributed to the sciences in the past and present.
County of San Diego's Department of Environmental Health & Quality - Hazardous Materials Division & Beach and Bay Program
The Department of Environmental Health & Quality will be conducting an interactive exercise where attendees can hold a CO2 bubble. Additionally, the Hazardous Material Division and the Beach and Bay Program will provide information regarding the regulation and handling of Hazardous Materials & Hazardous/Medical Waste. The Beach and Bay program will be providing information regarding the sampling and posting of signs warning of contaminated water at beaches affected by sewage spills.

Our various activity stations will preview what is offered year-round via our signature Tech Adventure Programs during summer camps, after-school programs, & professional development.

We will have multiple hands-on demonstrations related to the science of astrophysics, including spectroscopy, types of light such as infrared, telescopes to look at the Sun, optics, and the size/scale of objects in the Universe.
