City of San Diego - Public Utilities Department
We have a spinning wheel to assist with interaction that is used to educate what items should and should not end up in the piping and drains associated with connection to the wastewater system. Those items include fats, oils, grease, non-biodegradable substances, etc. We will have informational hand outs as well as giveaway items.
National University
We will be providing a variety of hands-on models (human anatomy and cell/microbiology). We might also have kinetic sandbox with plants and animals for an ecology theme.
San Diego City College - School of Science, Mathematics, and Nursing/San Diego City College Outreach
Hands on activities in chemistry, physics, geosciences, astronomy, and life sciences. This will include live demonstrations and hands on experiments and activities.
Team High Voltage , First Tech Challenge
The booth will be hosted by High School Students of Team High Voltage. The primary activity will be the demo of various types of Robots and hands-on experience for participants. They can learn about robotics, play with robots, and learn about the design, programming, and engineering aspects related to these robots.

General Atomics Energy/Fusion
Booth has interactive demonstrations for attendees. Topics covered include states of matter, electricity, and magnetism. Demonstrations include the use of permanent and electromagnets, liquid nitrogen, gaseous plasma tubes, and Tesla coils.
San Diego Miramar College, Biotech
Participants will learn how to use a micropipette by pipetting watercolor to chromatography paper, making bookmarks that they can take home.
Biodiesel & Algal Studies Group
Since 2009 Castle Park High students, with Dr. Pomeroy of UCSD, have learned to produce biodiesel from vegetable oil. Our booth demonstrates the step-by-step process of biodiesel synthesis, discusses the advantages of biodiesel over petroleum and outlines the ease of production. Our booth includes CAICE researchers who provide demonstrations concerning climate change and atmospheric chemistry. We also partner with Algenesis who demonstrate biodegradable materials that mimic plastics and foams.
Naval Information Warfare Pacific
AI vs Human: Can you sort objects (different vehicle types) faster than a robot? The human participant will be blind folded or obstructed from the view of the bin of different objects. The goal of the challenge will be for human and robot to sort the objects(vehicles) into three different bins in a set time limit (1 minute). This fun interactive experience highlights the core disciplines (computer science, robotics, and machine learning) of our science and engineering workforce.
