Shapes & Civil Engineering
Civil engineers have been using arches, triangles and trusses in the design and construction of large structures for thousands of years. From the ancient Romans to contemporary civil engineers, you will find arches and triangles in bridges, stadiums, dams and nearly any structure that has to bear heavy loads. In this program, participants will learn the secrets to the super strength of these shapes and perform experiments to gain an understanding of why they are so inherently strong!
