The San Diego Festival of Science & Engineering, presented by the Illumina Foundation, will be fully virtual this year from April 24-May 2 on lovestemsd.org.

The Live Main Stage event is from 10am-6pm on Tuesday, April 27 and Wednesday, April 28 with fun and interactive STEAM activities, a special Women in STEAM event as well as a COVID-19 conversation for kids and teens.

Light hearted and experiential activities are the most effective way to ensure engagement and lasting relationships. Using STEAM activities as a backdrop for our unique Teambuilding event, we promote bonding, collaboration and connections, while solving fun challenges that combine scientific, and logical reasoning with creative, imaginative and innovative thinking.

Challenge Island® partners with Girl Scout councils nationwide, and we offer interactive, hands-on STEAM Girl Scout virtual workshops for girls of all ages - Daisy through Ambassador. These session are hands-on, lead live by Challenge Island instructor and the other kids on the call. So come join us on our interactive online classes and connect with your troop members and new Girl Scout friends. We have put together a special workshop just for you!

Inviting Girl Scouts Brownies and Juniors - a special workshop just for you to fulfill the requirements for her STEM Career Exploration Badge.

At our workshops, girls use the Engineering Design Process to understand a real-world issue, create a design build around the topic, and will have the opportunity to show off their go-getter ingenuity to their fellow Girl Scouts. Girls are encouraged to wear their sash/vest.

The even will be open to all, so feel free to register even if you are not a Girl Scout.

FREE S.T.E.A.M. kit. Engineer a vehicle and create an original, creative story about it. Ignite your child’s creativity, imagination, and planning skills to foster brain development and connectivity and critical 21st century skills. Enter for a chance to win a free Brain Balance Assessment, tickets to the San Diego Automotive Museum, and a chance to display your vehicle at the San Diego Automotive Museum.

This program provides space for young women to learn from and be inspired by women leaders across a range of STEAM industries. Each speaker will share their career journey and how they have overcome challenges. The program will close with a live Q&A, so be sure to tune in live!

Now the whole family can get in on the Challenge Island Maker and Science fun! Gather your tribe and travel back to the California Gold Rush of 1849. Celebrate Remake Learning Day on our Time Machine Island’s Gold Rush Mountain. Interact virtually with families from across the country while collaborating, engineering, and imagining your way through a STEAMtastic family fun activity! All you need is a few basic household supplies and a device to log into our virtual classroom. Once registered you will receive a supplies list to go scavenger hunt with and a Zoom link to join the workshop.
