Bring cutting edge science to your STEM classroom! Hear from a Vertex research scientist about recent advances in genetic therapies and how STEM educators can implement this content in their classrooms. Vertex is a global biotechnology company that invests in scientific innovation to create medicines for people with serious and life threatening diseases. Their passion for helping to make lives better extends beyond individuals with serious diseases to include the communities in which they live and work. Educational programs in science, technology, engineering, the arts and math (STEAM) are a natural fit with their business. One of the main missions of the STEAM program and Learning Lab is to support and inspire under-resourced students to become the next generation of scientific leaders.
San Diego County Credit Union® will present the SDCCU® Biz Kid$ Program, a resource for teachers to help teach their students about money and business. SDCCU launched the program in partnership with the San Diego County Office of Education and the County of San Diego, in support of Live Well San Diego, in 2015. Biz Kid$ is an award-winning, comprehensive financial literacy program focused on teaching kids how to use credit wisely and about the importance of saving, budgeting, investing and giving back to their communities. The Biz Kid$ program and all episodes are based on national standards for financial literacy and entrepreneurship education, and have been mapped to individual state standards. SDCCU will be offering teachers a chance to enter-to-win a complete program at the event.
