Str8up Kid2Kid

Public awareness campaign to educate kids on the health benefits of proper posture while using technology, and the health risks associated with improper tech posture habits. The kids do school presentations to spread awareness. At the booth, they can provide info, sell technology stickers, bookmarks and reminder bands (nominal fee) to remind kids to STOP, STRETCH, STR8UP. The Str8up kids teach 5 easy stretches that should be done during regular breaks from tech usage, and can even be done while the kids are sitting at their desks.

JLABS

Learn about the JLABS incubator for life science startups and Janssen R&D, the pharmaceutical division of Johnson & Johnson. Kids will be able to do a "Make Your Own Super Ball" experiment and take pictures in a fun photo booth with science props.

NDIA San Diego Chapter

Engage in development of the next generation scientist/engineers through actions and coordination with agencies and organizations involved in education, such as Biocom and Science and Engineering Festival. Demonstrate technologies supporting Department of Defense. Communicate the importance and need for STEM education and encourage STEM career path.

STEAM Maker Recycled Challenges

The STEAM Maker Recycled Fashion and Engineering Challenges. Students in graded 5-12 will compete in this head-to-head competition to build a costume or device inspired by the STAR WARS Steampunk Universe. When complete team members will answer questions from the judges as they walk the runway with their creation.

Ascent Streetboards

Ascent streetboards will host a hands on display for kids and adults to explore the science of polymers and plastics. The booth will take you through the design process to manufacturer plastic parts, which make up most of the components we touch. Kids will be able to compare and test the strength of different plastic parts and see common parts that use each of the plastics.

Let's Talk Trash!

The Recycling Information Booth provides information on waste reduction techniques such as recycling and composting. Information is also available on identification and proper disposal of commercial waste, household hazardous waste, and construction debris. The booth is a collaborative effort between the San Diego County Office of Education and the City of San Diego Environmental Services Department. Interactive games are featured teaching recycling rules in San Diego and general information on waste reduction.
