Suds & Science. San Diego Research Spotlight: Climate Change and its Effect on Food Security. Join us for a special Suds & Science edition in partnership with the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering and the Weather on Steroids: The Art of Climate Change Science Exhibition on view at the La Jolla Historical Society from February 11 to May 21, 2017. Researchers from UCSD and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography share their latest research on climate change, including its effects on our oceans, marine life, extreme weather, agriculture and food security.
UC Health Hack (UC HH) is an annual interdisciplinary hackathon hosted by UC San Diego Health & UCSD's Engineering World Health (EWH), an undergraduate student-led organization. Students, physicians, and industry professionals will have the chance to address and attempt to solve integrative medicine and global health issues in a fast-paced, competition format. During the competition, teams of up to five members collaborate over the course of two days to solve critical medical problems, under the guidance of world class mentors and field experts.
The Science and Engineering of Lowriders event at Chicano Park will feature a history of lowrider culture, the evolution of engineering and technology that goes into these mobile art pieces, and a historical tour of the famous murals of Chicano Park, ending with a lowrider demonstration. This family friendly experience is presented by Via International and 52 Weeks of Science
Super STEM Saturday is designed to expose and engage kids of all ages and their families to the diverse and exciting fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, known as the STEM disciplines. The brainchild of The Classical Academies and held in partnership with CSUSM, Super STEM Saturday has grown into a popular North County event that draws over 7,000 science enthusiasts each year to the university campus.
San Diego Miramar College will host a free science festival on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 12pm for kids from 9 to 99 at its Mira Mesa Campus (10440 Black Mountain Road). The Miramar College science faculty, staff and students will present a morning filled with “hands on” activities. All ages are welcome and this is a free event with free parking on campus! This event is part of the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering taking place around San Diego County starting on March 4th, 2017.
